Fanatec CSL DD vs GT DD Pro: what does the console change?
These two bases come out of the same factory and share the same 8 Nm torque rating, the same QR2 quick release and the same 24-month warranty. All seven comparable specifications on the spec sheet are identical. Only the price and the release date set them apart: 429.95 euros for the CSL DD in 2021, 499.95 euros for the GT DD Pro in 2022.
The 70 euro gap buys one thing, the PlayStation licence. The GT DD Pro is the only one of the two that works on a Sony console, and that is about all that distinguishes it. A PC driver who pays the extra is paying for compatibility they will never use.
The question is worth asking the other way round: if you play on PlayStation, the CSL DD is of no use to you, whatever its price. Compatibility is a precondition, settled before any other criterion is weighed.

Verdict
Choose the GT DD Pro if you play on PlayStation, now or later. Fanatec has no cheaper equivalent.
Choose the CSL DD in every other case. On PC, the 70 euros you save are better spent on the pedals, which weigh more on lap times than the last newton-metre.
