MOZA rolls out NexGen 4.0 across its whole base range
The force feedback update covers every base, from the R3 to the R21. Four models also get hardware revisions.
On 24 April 2025, MOZA announced NexGen 4.0, a force feedback software update rolled out across all its direct drive bases, from the entry-level R3 to the R21. Four models also get hardware revisions: R9 V3, R12 V2, R16 V2 and R21 V2.
A software update that reaches an entire range is worth reporting, because it changes how hardware already bought behaves, without the owner having asked for it.
What MOZA announces
MOZA puts forward three changes: improved cogging compensation, aimed at smooth rotation at low speed; active thermal management, meant to prevent torque loss in long sessions, which MOZA presents as mostly useful for the small R5 and R9 bases with their low thermal mass; and interpolation that smooths transitions between force levels.
What it means for a product page
A base that receives this kind of update keeps the same published specifications: the announced peak torque stays the same. What changes is the feel, and we have no way to measure it without the hardware.
Our product pages therefore carry the same values as before the update, with their verification date. A specification only changes on our site when the manufacturer publishes a new value.
