Between 1,000 and 1,500 euros, two items move up a class: torque goes from 9 to 12 Nm, and the brake from a 100 kg to a 200 kg load cell. The chassis does not change.
That is deliberate, and it is the only trade-off on this page. The next cockpit up is sold as a bare frame, seat extra, and together they pass 700 euros. That money would have to come out of the base or the pedals, where it does more.
12 Nm, 21-bit magnetic encoder and active cooling, with the carbon-reinforced KS GT rim and its magnetic clutch paddles. MOZA sells the set for 649 euros and quotes 808 euros for the two pieces separately.
The maths holds at today's prices: the base alone is 419 euros and the rim 249, which is 19 euros more than the bundle.
The Fanatec ClubSport DD quotes 15 Nm for 599.95 euros, three more, but without a rim: one has to be added to the budget. We have tested neither.

200 kg load cell on the brake against 100 kg on the SRP2 in the previous budget, 15-bit angle sensor, machined aluminium body and carbon fibre heel plate. 399 euros instead of the 449 quoted as its usual price.
This is the item that justifies going from 1,000 to 1,500 euros, more than the three newton-metres gained on the base.
The Fanatec CSL Elite V2 at 249.95 euros ships three pedals: load cell brake, throttle and clutch on Hall sensors. Less adjustment, but the clutch is included.

What would come next is sold as a bare frame: the Trak Racer TR80S is 449 euros without a seat, and the first bucket seat in its range is 259 euros. More than 700 euros in total, which would have to come from elsewhere.
The third pedal, on a load cell like the other two, at 109 euros. Useful in rally and for standing starts. In GT the clutch is handled on the paddle, and the KS rim has two.
The total stops at 1,383 euros. The remaining 117 euros are better spent on a bucket seat than on extra torque: Fanatec states its chassis accepts most seats on the market, and lateral support is felt more than three extra newton-metres.
If there is room for a cockpit that stays set up, an aluminium profile rig is the next step. It will then take a far more powerful base without changing anything else.
