Genesis Magma Racing is recruiting an esports driver on Le Mans Ultimate
Eight weeks of qualifiers from 6 October, on PC with free entry, then four races in December. The winner will be offered a driver seat in the GMR Esports team for 2027.
On 24 September 2026, Genesis Magma Racing launched the GMR Esports Series, a Le Mans Ultimate competition set up with the game's studio and the media outlet Traxion. Qualifiers start on 6 October, on PC, and entry is free. The winner of the final, held in December, will be offered a full-time driver seat in the GMR Esports team for the 2027 season.
Genesis Magma Racing races the GMR-001 in the Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship, whose official game is Le Mans Ultimate. Its esports team has six drivers, three from Europe and three from South Korea, plus a reserve.
Eight weeks of qualifiers
Each week is raced on a different circuit: Sebring, Fuji, Monza, Bahrain, Portimão, a second Bahrain layout, Spa-Francorchamps, then Le Mans from 23 November to 1 December. Everyone drives the GMR-001. A driver can enter at most three races per week, and only their best six weeks count towards the standings.
The top 20 in the global standings and the top 10 drivers registered in South Korea go through to the final. It has four races: three 45-minute sprints, at Spa-Francorchamps on 11 December, Interlagos on the 12th and the Circuit of the Americas on the 18th, then a two-hour endurance race at Le Mans on the 19th. The organisers add "Wildcards", challenges drawn from the game's dynamic weather.
What you need to enter
The game on PC and a personal Steam account, declared with your name, email address and country on Traxion's registration page. The GMR-001 and the qualifying circuits are part of the base game. For the final, Interlagos and the Circuit of the Americas are sold separately, in the 2024 Pack 2 and Pack 3 add-ons. Eleven countries are excluded, including Russia, Belarus and Iran.
One point remains open. The qualifiers run through the game's Online Championships tab, which the Le Mans Ultimate FAQ reserves for RaceControl Pro or Pro+ subscribers, with a minimum safety level. Neither the announcement nor Traxion's page says whether that condition applies to this series.
What sets it apart
The competitions we follow award a title and prize money. The GMR Esports Series recruits: its announced reward is a seat in a manufacturer-backed team, and Traxion says further prizes will be announced. The Porsche Esports Supercup also leads to real racing, with a selection at the Porsche Esports Performance Center in Cologne after its world championship, but it runs on iRacing, and its 2026 qualification path is over.
This article reports the announcement by Genesis Magma Racing, published on the Le Mans Ultimate website, and the entry conditions published by Traxion, read on 30 September 2026.
